Does Gorgeous FX use glues or waxes that are damaging on my hair?
No, we use no glues or waxes in wefts and we use keratin instead of glues or waxes in our singles.

What is keratin?
Keratin is a protein found in your natural hair, skin and nails.

Why are glues bad?
Glues are sometimes so tough that on removal the extensions are so difficult to remove that the pressure on the natural hair can cause unwanted breakage.

Why are waxes bad?
Waxes are sometimes soft and stick and hard to remove or in some cases so soft that they are prone to slipping out of the hair within weeks after the application.

What method is the best method to choose?
Every client had different hair type and needs, so different methods suit different hair types and life styles. Gorgeous fx will professionally choose the methods best suited for your hair type to ensure your natural hair is left undamaged.

What is Remi hair?
Remi means: the cuticles are intact and all facing down the hair shaft in the correct direction. Non Remi hair will matt and knot considerably when trying to brush or style the hair. Gorgeous FX only works with 100 human Remi hair.

Depending on the length, hair quality and amount needed the price can very from $200 to $2000. But on average a full head of quality hair extensions will be between $800 and $1200

Can I have my own hair colored while I have hair extensions in?
Yes, you can color your re-growth as per usual to avoid any re-growth lines. We advise you have your hair colored by our colorist who works with hair extensions to avoid any errors.

Can I color hair extension hair?
You can never lighten the hair yet technically the hair is 100% human hair so many salons or clients do color the hair, but we recommend you don’t. If you choose to color the hair extensions the hair quality will drop and you may find the hair is much harder to look after.
We do stock a non ammonia semi permanent color range which is safer to apply to the hair extensions for temporary color change if requested.

I’ve heard horror stories about hair extensions damaging people’s hair is this true? And will this happen to me?
Yes sadly there are many salons out there who are not trained well in hair extension and the application, glue or lack of after care knowledge can cause extreme damage. This is why we at Gorgeous FX are very strict on training and after care advice to avoid this.

What do I expect on the day I have my extensions put in?
-We will color your hair if required then wash your hair to remove all product and oil build up. trim your ends slightly to remove split end.
-We then will apply the hair extensions depending on the method and amount required this may take between 30 minutes and 4 hours.
-The stylist will guide you threw the application to give you an understanding of what we are doing and how to maintain the hair once you leave the salon.
-We then will cut and style your new hair and recommend you after care products to assist you with keeping your hair extensions looking optimal at all times.

Why does hair shed when I remove my hair extensions?
Your natural hair continues to grow and shed due to the normal hair cycle. Normally this excess hair falls to the floor but because you have a bond or weft attached the hair gets trapped and is not removed until the day of the hair extensions being removed. So the hair that you see shedding on removal is natural and not damage, just hair that is trapped waiting to be removed.

How do I shampoo my hair while I have hair extensions in?
Shampooing is very straight forward but there a few simple steps to shampooing which your stylist will guide you threw on the day of your application. Remembering not to condition the roots ever.

Will I need products to help maintain my hair extensions?
Yes a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner is recommended and a shine serum along with a hair extensions brush will be required in order to assist with the home maintenance of your new hair.

What are the on going cost for hair extensions?
This will depend on the method you have and how you maintain the hair.
If you maintain your hair some methods are re-usable but on average most re-application cost between $200 and $400 every 3-6 months.

Can I re-use my hair?
WEFTS: Yes if you maintain it you can. On average most people get 2-3 applications (6-10 months) out of the first hair purchased.
SINGLES: no we do not re use hair as the 2nd result never looks as good due to previous cut and the time required to remove each extension and sought the hair into lengths and color is costly.
Bond should last on average 4-5 months. Then a new set is required.

What should I do to avoid my extensions shedding and matting?
Tie my hair back before bed.
Never go to bed with my hair wet.
Use the correct products and brush.
Keep the hair moisturized.

What do I brush my extensions with?
We have professionally selected hair extension brushes to help you brush your hair with ease.

What do I wash my extensions with?
We recommend a salon professional hair shampoo and conditioner and every second wash a natural silicon based shampoo and conditioner to keep the hair shiny and soft.

Can I curl and iron my hair extensions?
Yes we work with only 100% human hair so yes u can use irons and curl or straighten the hair. We recommend you use a heat protectant to avoid drying out the hair and causing split ends etc.

I go to the gym regularly will this affect my hair extensions?
Lots of active people have hair extensions and manage there hair with ease. Please advise your stylist of this so we can choose the best methods to help with your life style.
The build up of excess oil can some times cause the extensions to slip in some wax or glue methods

Can I still swim with hair extensions?
Lots of active people have hair extensions and manage there hair with ease.
We recommend you use a treatment to help repair the hair after swimming as this can dry the hair out. Always tie the hair back in a braid or neatly in a swimming cap. Never leave your hair down in a spa as this will cause matting in any long hair, hair extensions or natural.

If I am unsure or concerned with my extensions after care eg: knots, matting, shedding, how to or do’s and don’ts etc. what should I do?
Read threw the after care sheet provided on application day (if misplaced refer to after care info on web site.) if still unsure contact your salon asap and book in for a check up.
